·      Major Section: Open to 1900/above: $2000-1000-600-400, clear or tiebreak winner $100 bonus, top USCF U2300 $600-300.  FIDE rated.

·       Under 2100 Section: $1200-600-400-300. Top under 1900/Unr $500-$300.  FIDE rated.

·      Under 1800 Section: $1200-600-400-300.  Top U1600 (no Unr) $400-200

·      Under 1500 Section: $1000-500-300-200.  Top U1300:  (no Unr)  $400-200

·      Unrated prize limits:  U1500 $200, U1800 $400.

MIXED DOUBLES BONUS PRIZES: best male/female 2-player team combined score among all sections: $500-300-200. Team must average under 2200; may play in different sections and schedules; register (no extra fee) by 2 pm Sat. Prize limits do not apply to mixed doubles.

 

Entry fee: $118 online at chessaction.com by 6/26, all $140 at site (no checks, credit cards OK), or online until 1 hour before round 1.  GMs 100 from prize.

Re-entry: Re-entry for $50, not available to go from Major to Major.

PLAYERS MAY NOT POSESS CELLPHONES DURING PLAY. Please leave your phone home, or in your hotel room or car, or in a bag at your table.  

For all tournaments, adjusted FIDE or foreign ratings, if higher than US Chess rating, may be used. Players must disclose FIDE or foreign ratings when entering, or may later be expelled. Other over the board ratings such as club, league, scholastic, state or province, etc, adjusted if appropriate, may be used at our discretion if above US Chess rating.  No rating below the latest official US Chess rating, on the list corresponding to the ending date of the tournament, will be used. Ratings: June official US Chess ratings used. Unofficial uschess.org ratings usually used if otherwise unrated. Players must reveal foreign, FIDE and other over the board ratings, and these ratings, adjusted, if necessary, may be used if higher than US Chess. See also above.

Unofficial or Online Regular uschess.org ratings usually used if otherwise unrated. Cannot play below Online Regular Rating – 100 points.

3-day schedule: Reg. ends Fri 6 pm, rounds. Fri 7 p.m., Sat 11 a.m. & 5 p.m., Sun 10 a.m. & 4 p.m.

2-day schedule: Reg. ends Sat. 10 am, rounds Sat 11 a.m., 2 p.m. & 5 p.m., Sun 10 a.m. & 4 p.m.

Half point byes: OK all, limit 2, Must commit before round 2.

Hotel rates: $148 to $180 (rates vary per number in room and room type). 50 free rollaway beds available; if taken, rollaways are $30/day. Under 18 free in parents room using  existing bedding. Reserve early, the chess block may sell out by early June or before.

     If you need to reserve a room to check-in to the Sheraton before July 1st AND to check out after June 30th, please email your request to director@chess.us and include your name, dates requested, number of beds and your email and phone number.  We will then forward your email to the Sheraton.  NOTE:  Continental Chess does not make the hotel reservations, we only forward your requests to the Sheraton-  for guests who are arriving before July 1st and also departing after June 30th.

     We have an overflow block of hotel sleeping rooms at the Sonesta Philadelphia Rittenhouse Square Hotel, 1800 Market Street in Philadelphia, about a ten-minute walk (4/10 mile), according to Google Maps, from the tournament site at the Sheraton Hotel.  The Chess Rate at the Sonesta is $141 per night:  click here for the Sonesta overflow chess rooms link (the Sonesta chess rate deadline is June 24 (but the overflow block may also sell out earlier or the rate may increase after June 24th). The hotel valet parking at the Sonesta for Sunday – Thursday is $51 per night; for Friday - Saturday: $47 per night.

     Players who are attending our events during the dates of June 28-29 and who are also planning on staying in Philadelphia for later events may wish to consider booking their entire stay at the Sonesta Hotel to avoid having to check in and out of two separate hotels.

 

Prizes not claimed at site usually paid through PayPal (may take a few weeks).

Room sharing: Post a request to share a room on the US Chess "All Things Chess" Forum.  If you have difficulty posting, email your request to Continental Chess and we will post it for you.
