    Open Section: Open to players who are rated 2300/over by USCF or 2000/above FIDE, are foreign FIDE rated, or pay $500 extra. Players with FIDE federation “FID” do not count as FIDE foreign players.
 
Prizes $10000-5000-2500-1300-1000-900-700-600-500-500, clear or tiebreak winner bonus $300, top FIDE Under 2400/Unr $2000-1000-400.

FIDE rated, GM and IM norms possible. FIDE requires at least one Swiss System (at least 40 players) norm to obtain a title.
 

    Under 2300 Section: $5000-2500-1200-800-600-500-400-400-400-300.  FIDE Rated.

    Under 2100 Section: $5000-2500-1200-800-600-500-400-400-400-300.  FIDE Rated.

    Under 1900 Section: $5000-2500-1200-800-600-500-400-400-400-300.

    Under 1700 Section: $5000-2500-1200-800-600-500-400-400-400-300.

    Under 1500 Section: $4000-2000-1000-700-500-400-400-400-400-300.

    Under 1300 Section: $3000-1500-1000-700-500-400-400-400-400-300, top rated Under 1100 $1000-600-400.

 

Cannot play below Online Regular Rating – 100 points.

Unrated allowed in all sections subject to prize limits below.
 

Prize limits: 1) If any post-event Regular OTB or Regular Online rating posted 5/23/23-5/23/24 or current Regular Online rating was more than 40 points over section maximum, prize limit $800.  2.) Players with under 26 lifetime games rated as of May 2024 official list cannot win over $1000 U1300, $1500 U1500, $2000 U1700, or $2500 U1900. 4) Unrated limits: U1300 $300, U1500 $400, U1700 $600, U1900 $800, U2100 $1200. 4.) Balance of any limited prize goes to next eligible player(s) in line. 


Mixed Doubles Bonus Prizes: best male/female combined 2-player team score: $2000-1000-500-400-300. For the Open Section, only the first 7 rounds will be counted towards mixed doubles. Team must average under 2200; may play in different sections or schedules; register (no extra fee) before both players begin round 2;  teams including an unrated limited to $500 (other prize limits do not apply to Mixed Doubles).

 

Prizes usually paid through PayPal (may take over a week).


Entry fee: $207 online at chessaction.com by 3/19, $227 online by 5/22, all $250 online later or at site until 1 hour before round 1. 

Open entry fee for titled players: GMs and foreign IMs/WGMs free; $200 deducted from prize. US IMs/WGMs and foreign FMs $100 less with additional $100 deducted from prize.  Deductions cannot lower prize to below minimum titled player guarantee below. Players with federation "FID" are not foreign players.

 

Open minimum prize guarantee if entering online by 5/2 and playing all 9 games (no byes):  foreign GM $800, foreign IM/WGM $400, foreign FM $200.

 

Entry fee $100 less to seniors age 65/over.

USCF membership required. Special 1 yr USCF dues with magazine if paid online with entry: Online at chessaction.com, Adult $43, Young Adult $26, Youth $19.

Re-entry: $100, no re-entry from Open to Open.  $500 extra to players re-entering from lower sections into Open Section who are Under 2000/Unr. FIDE and who also are not foreign FIDE rateds. Players with FIDE federation “FID” do not count as FIDE foreign players.

5-day schedule (Open Section only): Onsite registration ends Thu 6 pm, rounds Thu 7 pm, Fri 1 & 7, Sat 11 & 5, Sun 10 & 4, Mon 10 & 4: 
4-day schedule (U2300 to U1300): Onsite registration ends Fri 6 pm, rounds Fri 7 pm, Sat 11 & 5, Sun 10 & 4, Mon 10 & 4. 
3-day schedule (U2300 to U1300): Onsite registration ends Sat 9 am, rounds Sat 10, 1:30 & 5, Sun 10 & 4, Mon 10 & 4. 

4-day and 3-day schedules within each section merge and compete for same prizes.

 OK all, limit 3 (limit 2 in last 4 rds), must commit before rd 3.

PLAYERS MAY NOT POSSESS CELLPHONES DURING PLAY. Please leave your phone home, in your hotel room or car, or in a bag at your table. 

     For all tournaments, adjusted FIDE or foreign ratings, if higher than USCF, may be used. Players must disclose FIDE or foreign ratings when entering, or may later be expelled. Other over the board ratings such as club, league, scholastic, state or province, etc, adjusted if appropriate, may also be used at our discretion if above USCF and must be disclosed.  No rating below the latest official USCF rating, on the list corresponding to the ending date of the tournament, will be used. For 9 round events offering title norm possibilities, FIDE ratings are used. Click here for further details.
