QUESTIONS ABOUT GUEST ROOMS AT 2008 NY STATE SCHOLASTICS

Q: Why is the hotel out of rooms so early this year?

A: This was supposed to be a downstate year, but we learned in August that no one was willing to organize it in the NYC area due to unavailability of an affordable playing site.  Few hotels have enough space, and those that do seem to charge $30,000 or more rent.  The last school site that was used (New Rochelle HS) is no longer available.  The event was almost cancelled, but we were fortunate that The Saratoga was available on short notice, however we were not able to reserve as many rooms as last year, especially Friday.

Q: Why is the event scheduled during spring break for some private schools?

A: No other dates were available.

Q: What other lodging is available in Saratoga?

A:  See www.expedia.com.  The Best Western and the Grand Union Hotel appear to have rooms, among others.  Also, The Saratoga is keeping a waiting list and some rooms are expected to become available due to cancellations.  Usually some coaches reserve more rooms than they need and cancel the rest when they realize this.

Q:  What about the hotel listed for backup, the Courtyard by Marriott?

A:  They are sold out, but may have more rooms available soon.  We will post a notice if this happens.

NOTE TO COACHES:  
Please cancel the rooms you will not need as soon as possible so that others may use them!
