2014 Chicago Class

7th annual Chicago Class. 5 rounds, 40/110, SD/30, d10 (2-day option, rds 1-2 G/60, d10). Westin Chicago North Shore Hotel, 601 North Milwaukee Avenue, Wheeling IL 60090 (from Chicago, I-294 north to US-45 north; from Milwaukee, I-94 to Lake Cook Rd to US-45 south). Free parking. $20,000 guaranteed prize fund.

In 7 sections:
Master (2200/up): $2000-1000-500-300, clear win or 1st on tiebreak $100, top U2400 $800-400. FIDE rated.
Expert (2000-2199): $1400-700-400-200.
Class A (1800-1999/Unr): $1400-700-400-200.
Class B (1600-1799/Unr): $1400-700-400-200.
Class C (1400-1599/Unr): $1200-600-400-200.
Class D (1200-1399/Unr): $1000-500-300-200.
Class E (Under 1200/Unr): $500-250-150-100, trophies to first 3, top Under 1000, Under 800, Under 600, Unrated.
Rated players may play up one section.

Prize limits: Unrated may not win over $200 in E, $350 D, $500 C, $700 B, or $900 A.

Mixed doubles bonus prizes: best male/female 2-player “team” combined score among all sections: $800-400-200. Team average rating must be under 2200; teammates may play in different sections; teams must register (no extra fee) before both players begin round 2; teammate pairings avoided but possible.

Top 6 sections entry fee: $105 online at chessaction.com by 7/16, $110 phoned to 406-896-2038 (entry only, no questions) by 7/14, 3-day $108, 2-day $107 mailed by 7/9, all $120 at site, or online until 2 hours before first game.

Class E Section entry fee:  $55 online at chessaction.com by 7/16, $60 phoned to 406-896-2038 (entry only, no questions) by 7/14, 3-day $58, 2-day $57 mailed by 7/9, all $70 at site, or online until 2 hours before first game.

All: No mailed credit card entries. No checks at site, credit cards OK. Online or mailed EF $5 less to ICA members; join/renew at il-chess.org. An ICA Tour event. July official USCF ratings used. 3-day schedule: Reg. ends Fri 6 pm, rds. Fri 7, Sat 11 am & 5 pm, Sun 10 am & 3:30 pm.
2-day schedule: Reg. ends Sat 10 am, rds. Sat 11 am, 2 pm & 5 pm, Sun 10 am & 3:30 pm.
Half point byes: OK all rounds, limit 2, Master must commit before rd 2, others before rd 3.
