6 round Swiss, G/60 d10, open to grades K-12; top NYS player & team in each Championship section are NY champions. In 11 sections.  Middle School sections are at Courtyard by Marriott, 11 Excelsior Ave., Saratoga Springs NY 12866 (2/5 mile from Saratoga Hilton).  NOTE: some overflow K-8 games may be held at Saratoga Hilton/City Center. Other 8 sections for grades 5/below at Saratoga Hilton and adjacent Saratoga City Center (connected by indoor walkway), 534 Broadway (I-87 Exit 13-N, 4 miles north on US 9), Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.  Sections at Hilton/City Center may be limited to a total of about 1,100 players, sections at about Marriott 310 players.

Team prizes based on top 4 scores from same school. Teams of 2 or 3 players allowed, but are at a disadvantage.

Online entry fee at chessaction.comall sections: $100 by 2/1 (space permitting), $140 2/2 - 2/21 (space permitting), $180 2/22 - 3/3 (space permitting).  REGISTRATION MAY CLOSE PRIOR TO THESE DATES DUE TO SPACE LIMITATIONS.  IF registration is still open, the entry fee after 3/3 until registration closes is $220.   ON-SITE ENTRIES MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE THIS YEAR.

 

Middle School Championship, open to all in grades K-8. Top NYS player in grade 6-8 born after 9/1/10 or after qualifies for Barber tournament of K-8 Champions.

K-8 Under 1600/Unr, K-8 Under 900/Unr

Elementary Championship, open to all in grades K-5. Top NYS player born after 9/1/13 or after qualifies for Rockefeller tournament of K-5 Champions.

K-5 Under 1400/Unr, K-5 Under 1000/Unr, K-5 Under 600/Unr

Primary Championship, open to grades K-3.

K-3 Under 800/Unr

K-1 Championship, open to all in grades K-1.

K-1 Under 400/Unr

USCF Membership Required.  Special 1 year USCF dues with magazine if paid online with entry: see chessaction.com

Trophies, medals or plaques to top 10 players and top 5 teams each section, top 2 unrated in U1200, U900, U800, U600 & U400 sections, and top 2 each U1800, U1600, U1400 (MS), U1400, U1200, U1000 MS U1600), U700, U500, U300 (MS U900), U1700, U1500 (Elem Championship), U1200, U1000 (Elem U1400), U800, U700 (Elem U1000), U500, U400, U300 (Elem U600), U1400, U1200, U1000 (Primary Championship), U600, U500, U400, U300 (K-3 U800), U800, U600, U400 (K-1 Championship), U300, U200 (K-1 U400). Speed playoff if perfect score tie.

Free/Reduced Entry Fee Prizes (ONLY for NY players or players attending NY schools):  to all CCA OTB tournaments (World Open and Philadelphia International are $100 off instead):  Championship sections 8 months 1st, 6 months 2nd, 4 months to 3rd & 4th.  Other sections 6 months 1st, 4 months 2nd, 3 months to 3rd & 4.  2 months bonus free/reduced-price entry to New York players with 6-0 scores! Some CCA events also have minimum rating requirements and/or additional surcharges, based on rating, to play in the top sections; the free/reduced entry fee prizes do not cover any such additional surcharges for playing up in the top sections.

Schedule: Rounds begin Sat 11 am, 2 pm, 5 pm; Sun 9 am, 12 noon, 3 pm. Awards: about 5:30 pm Sun.

Recipients are responsible for arranging for their own delivery or replacements of awards not claimed at site.

Half point byes OK all, limit 2, must commit before round 2.

PLAYERS MAY NOT POSSESS CELLPHONES DURING PLAY. Please leave your phone home, in your hotel room or car, or in a bag at your table. 

Hotel rates: Hilton $179-179, two nights minimum.  Parking: $6 up to 4 hours daytime (no charge for 1st hour), $12 over 4 hours or overnight. Courtyard Marriott: $164-164, two nights minimum. 7 days’ notice required for room cancellations at Hilton, 14 days’ notice required at Courtyard. Free parking at Courtyard Marriot (subject to space availability).  Hotels may again have availability closer to event due to late cancellations. Backup hotels are posted at chessevents.us

Entry: www.chessaction.com. No mailed or email entries. $15 per player service charge for refunds. Section switches subject to $20 extra charge after 2/21.  All substitutions from advance list charged late fee and are subject to space limitations; no section switching or substitutions after 2 pm 3/7.

March official ratings used (except unofficial web ratings usually used if otherwise unrated). TD reserves right to assign estimated rating to players with non-USCF or online ratings.  Players cannot play more than 100 points below their USCF Online Regular Rating.
