APRIL 17-18: 53rd annual New York
State Scholastic Championships
(out of state welcome)
6SS, G/60+10, at Internet Chess Club.
Open to students in schools in the US or Canada.
Must be on Zoom using real name to be eligible for prizes
(see ccazoom.com for Zoom setup). Championship players with wrong Zoom camera
angle, if not corrected after notice, are ineligible for prizes.
Team prizes based on top 4 scores from same school.
In 10 sections:
High School Championship,
open to all
K-12. Top NYS grade 9-12 born after 9/1/01 qualifies for Denker tournament of HS
Champions. High School Reserve, Open to K-12 under 1500 or
unrated.
Junior High School Championship,
open to all K-9. Top NYS grade 6-8 born after 9/1/05 qualifies for Barber
tournament of Grade 6-8 Champions. Middle School Reserve, open
to K-8 under 1200 or unrated.
Elementary Championship,
open to all
K-6. Top NYS K-5 born after 9/1/08 qualifies for Rockefeller tournament of Grade
K-5 Champions. Elementary Reserve, open to K-6 under 1000 or
unrated. Elementary Novice, open to K-6 under 600 or unrated.
Primary Championship, open to all K-3.
Primary Reserve, open to K-3 under 800 or unrated.
K-1 Championship, open to K-1.
Championship Prizes:
Plaque to top 10 players and top 8 teams each section; free entry to all CCA tournaments
(limited to players in NY or adjacent states/provinces) 5/15/21-10/12/21 to 1st,
5/15/21-8/12/21 to 2nd, 5/15/21-7/12/21 to 3rd. Plaque to top U1800, U1600, U1400 in HS; U1600, U1400, U1200
in JHS; U1400, U1200, U1000 in Elem, U1200, U1000, U800 in Primary, U700, U500,
U300 in K-1.
Reserve & Novice Prizes:
Plaque to top 10 players and top 8 teams each section;
free entry to all CCA tournaments (limited to players in NY or adjacent
states/provinces) 5/15/21-7/12/21 to 1st, 5/15/21-6/15/21 2nd & 3rd.
Plaque to top U1200, U1000,
U800, Unr in HS Reserve, top U1000, U800, U600, Unr in Middle School Reserve,
top U800, U600, Unr in Elementary Reserve, U600, U400, U300, Unr in Primary
Reserve, U400, U300, U200, Unr in Elementary Novice. Playoff game
(after 3 weeks fair play) if two 6-0 scores.

$78 by 4/12, $90 by 5 pm EDT 4/15,

begins; rounds begin
each day at EDT 10 am, 1:15 pm & 4:30 pm.
Half
point byes available all rounds, limit 2 byes, must be claimed with registration
& cannot be changed. Online Regular rated (will not affect
OTB ratings); Online Regular ratings used for pairings & prizes. OTB
regular rating used if no online regular. Unofficial ratings usually used if
otherwise unrated. USCF membership required; may join with entry
(special rates at chessaction.com). $15 service
charge for refunds. $20 fee for switching sections after 4/12; no switching after
12 noon 4/16. Substitutions from advance player list pay $90.

A)
If the
tournament has been concluded, or there is one round remaining, the last
opponent of the disqualified player shall receive a win by forfeit. Other
opponents who lost to the disqualified player shall receive a half point bye,
and other opponents who drew with the disqualified player shall receive a win
by forfeit. Anyone who defeated the disqualified player shall retain a rated
win instead of a forfeit win.
B)
If two or more
rounds remain, all opponents of the disqualified player shall receive a win by
forfeit, unless they defeated the disqualified player in which case they will
retain a rated win.
WHAT TO DO AFTER REGISTRATION:
1) At chessaction.com, go to the row for the tournament and click on "entry list" to make sure you are listed. If not, notify us at director@chess.us.
2) If you are a current ICC members with a user name linked to your USCF ID number (like those who have played in our online tournaments), you are all set. If not, go to
to register with ICC. If you are unable to register, contact director@chess.us.
3) Read the rules posted HERE.
4) Follow Zoom instructions HERE.
5) 30 minutes before play begins, log into playcca.com, wait for any messages, and wait for your pairing to pop up when play is about to begin. DO NOT LOG OFF or you may not be paired.
