                   US Chess Grand Prix Points: 40 (enhanced)

142nd annual NY State Championship. Out of state welcome. 6SS, top 2 sections G/100+30, others 40/100, SD/30 d10 (2-day option in U2100 & below, rds 1-3 G/40, d10). No 2-day Championship Section. Albany Marriott, 189 Wolf Road, Albany 12205 (Thruway Exit 24, I-87 north to Wolf Rd, Exit 4). Luxurious hotel with indoor/outdoor pool, fitness center, free parking, free airport shuttle, free wireless, many restaurants in area.


Prizes $10,000 based on 150 paid entries; raised or lowered in proportion with minimum half each prize guaranteed. In 5 sections.
 

Championship Section: Open to 2000/above. Prizes $1200-600-400-200, top USCF Under 2300 $600-300.  State title and $100 bonus to top scoring NY State resident (both decided on tiebreak if tied). FIDE rated.

1700-2099 Section: $700-400-200-100, top Under 1900/Unr $300-150. FIDE rated.
Under 1800 Section:
$700-400-200-100, top Under 1600 $300-150.
Under 1500 Section:
$600-300-200-100, top Under 1300 $200-100.
Under 1200 Section: $400-200-120-80.

Unrated may not win over $150 in U1200, $250 U1500, or $400 U1800.


Mixed doubles bonus prizes: best male/female 2-player team among all sections: $400-200. Team must average under 2200; may play in different sections; register (no extra fee) before both players begin round 2.

Top 4 sections entry fee: $108 online at chessaction.com by 9/2, 4-day $114, 3-day $113, 2-day $112 if check mailed by 8/26, all $120 at site, or online until 2 hours before round 1.  No 2-day Championship Section.  No mailed credit card entries.


Under 1200 Section entry fee: All $20 less than top 4 sections entry fee.  

 

All: Online entries $7 less to NYSCA members. NYSCA dues $12/yr with 2 issues of Empire Chess or $20/yr with 4 issues; join or renew together with entry.


USCF MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED. Special 1 year USCF dues with magazine if paid with entry. Online at chessaction.com, Adult $35, Young Adult $22, Scholastic $15. Mailed or paid at site, Adult $40, Young Adult $25, Scholastic $17. Re-entry $60, all sections but Championship.  GMs free, $80 deducted from prize.   No checks at site, credit cards OK.

 

3-day schedule: Reg. ends Sat 11 am, rds. Sat 12 & 6, Sun 12 & 6, Mon 10 & 3:30.

4-day schedule: Reg. ends Fri 6 pm, rds. Fri 7 pm, Sat 6 pm, Sun 12 & 6, Mon 10 & 3:30.

2-day schedule: Reg. ends Sun. 10 am, rds Sun 11, 1:30, 3:30 & 6, Mon 10 & 3:30, no 2-day schedule in Championship.

 

Bye: all, limit 2, Championship must commit before round 2, others before round 4.

Out of state welcome; NYS blitz title to top NYS resident, on tiebreak if necessary. 5SS, G/5, d0, double round, 10 games, Albany Marriott (see NY State Championship). $$ 800 based on 25 entries: $200-100-50, Under 2200/Unr $120-60, U1900/Unr $100-50, U1600/Unr $80-40. EF: $40, NYSCA members $35, at site only, no checks. Reg. ends 9:45 pm, rds. 10, 10:30, 11, 11:30. 12. One half point bye allowed, must commit before rd 2. Blitz rated, but higher of regular or blitz used for pairings & prizes.
